Introduction to Riq'ah Calligraphy is a fun, immersive 6-week workshop which is the perfect starting point to unlock your child's creativity and connect them with centuries of Islamic culture.
Welcome to our Introduction to Arabic Calligraphy course for children aged 8-14! Our weekly workshops are designed to provide an immersive and engaging learning experience for young learners who are interested in exploring the beautiful art of Arabic calligraphy.
The course will be taught by Razzan Alagraa, a skilled calligrapher and student of master calligrapher Shahryanshah Sirajuddin Hoca. With Razzan's guidance, students will learn the fundamentals of the riq’a script, a versatile and widely used script in Arabic calligraphy.
Over the course of 6 weeks, students will receive instruction in the history, features, and uses of the riq’a script, as well as the proper preparation of reed pens and ink. Each session will also include in-class assessments, homework assignments, and ongoing personalized feedback to ensure that each student is making progress and developing their skills.
The sequential scaffolding approach used in traditional Arabic calligraphy instruction will be employed in this course, with each session building on the previous one to teach students the anatomy, proportions, and angles of the riq’a script. By the end of the course, students will have a strong foundation in the fundamentals of the script and will be able to move on to more advanced courses with confidence.
No prior experience is necessary, and all materials will be provided. Join us and let us help your child discover the beauty and artistry of Arabic calligraphy!
