Welcome to our Advanced Arabic Calligraphy course for children aged 8–14! This six-week workshop is designed for young learners who already have a foundational understanding of Arabic calligraphy and are ready to deepen their skills in the elegant Riq‘ah script.

Led by Razzan Alagraa, a skilled calligrapher and student of master calligrapher Shahryanshah Sirajuddin Hoca, this course offers a rigorous and immersive experience. Students will refine their technique, expand their knowledge of the script’s historical and artistic context, and develop greater precision and control in their writing.

Throughout the course, students will:

Explore the advanced anatomy, proportions, and angles of the Riq‘ah script.
Practice complex ligatures and compositions used in professional calligraphy.
Learn the preparation and maintenance of reed pens and ink for optimal performance.

Receive individualized feedback, in-class assessments, and structured homework to support steady progress.

The course follows a sequential scaffolding approach, rooted in traditional instruction methods, with each session building on the last to challenge and elevate students’ abilities. By the end of the program, participants will have the confidence and competence to pursue further specialization or begin creating polished calligraphic works.

Prerequisite: Students must have completed the Minaretein level 1 Riq‘a Arabic calligraphy course.
