An in-depth session exploring how faith and psychology intersect to strengthen īmān, resilience, and holistic well-being.
In an age where questions of mental well-being and faith are increasingly interconnected, understanding how īmān shapes psychological health has become essential.
Faith & Flourishing: Psychological Pathways to Strengthening Īmān, part of the Al-Iman Amānah initiative, brings together research, clinical insight, and Islamic tradition to explore how faith can support both inner stability and personal growth.
This session moves beyond simplistic notions of mental health, offering a clear distinction between flourishing (purpose, well-being, life satisfaction) and psychological distress (anxiety, depression)—and examining how different dimensions of faith influence both.
Led by Dr. Osman Umarji and Dr. Fahad Habib Khan, the session integrates academic research with practical application, helping participants understand how concepts such as tawakkul, qadar, and uncertainty relate to emotional resilience and spiritual strength.
Participants will also explore how one’s internal perception of Allah (often referred to as “God image”) shapes both faith and psychological experience, and how misalignment between belief and lived experience can lead to inner struggle.
By the end of the session, participants will:
